‘SWISS-INDIAN FILM BRIDGE’ at MIFF 2010

and organizers  during the press meet, held at MIFF’2010.        Five films have been included in the special package of ‘Swiss-Indian Film Bridge’ and are being screened during the festival.

        The Swiss film directors and members of Swiss Indian Film Bridge interacted with media and shared the idea behind the event.   Director Kamal Musale, whose film “Racelette Curry” has been screened during the festival, told that he tries to present a mixed culture between two countries, through a recipe mingling Indian and Swiss ingredients.   Kamal, who is also a director of Swiss-Indian Film Bridge told that his film ‘Raclette Curry’ is about a mixed-race man’s desire for a white skinned woman.   In his brief, seven minute film, Kamal beautifully portrayed a cultural merger through a receipe of curry.   According to Mr. Kamal, food, clothes are the parts of a culture, through which, we can make a bond between two societies.

 

 

 

        Fabinne Abramovich, the director of short film ‘Liens De Sang (Blood Ties) also shared the theme of her film.   The film takes us into the lines of four families living in Geneva.   Fabinne sensitively captured the moments of love, hate anger between families.   Basically her idea behind the story is to unfold the inner aspects of human relationship.   Fabinne strongly believes that, we should try to understand ourself and other personalities better and better for that, she feels every incident between any relations, help to understand the person deeply.

 

 

 

        One more notable film from Switzerland is ‘Dharavi ‘Slum for Sale’, by Lutz Konermann and Rob Appleby.   The documentary is about the rehabilitation policies of India’s biggest slum Dharavi.   The film follows a laborious, active life of slum dwellers, as well as, the process of radical makeover of Dharavi.   It showcases the struggle of slum dwellers side.
