In spite of keeping a low profile, Bhairavi Jaikishan who has been in the industry since more than a decade, is known for her fluid silhouettes that flatter the female form . Her clients can identify her creations, at a glance, as a typical Bhairavi Jaikishan design.  Her collection at Lakme Fashion Week 2012, “The Senseous Woman”, was a celebration of bridal feminity. Clothes that skim the body in luxury and beauty to create an overall electrifying experience for both the wearer as well as the viewer. The colour pallete moved from dull golds, pastels, to vibrant blues, pinks, turquoise and vermillions wtih tulles, nets and lame creating the image of the ethereal woman. These are garments that can be worn for a summer wedding by the bride and her family, without being overwhlemed with heavy textiles and embroideries.

akstepcSRTEPC (The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council) witnessed a dazzling night as Ace Designer Archana Kochhar showcased her uber chic resort themed collection christened as ‘Summer Brides of 2012′.   Gorgeous Aanchal Kumar along with the extremely handsome and royal Aryan Vaid, who was wearing a blue embroidered sherwani, was her muse for the evening.  Aanchal kumar, Aryan Vaid, Kanwaljeet and Archana Kochhar was seen enjoying at the back stage and discussing about ongoing Fashion week and the number of models tripping on 1st two days. Archana’s excitement about her latest collection could be seen as she shared her thoughts with everyone. The event saw a great trade turn-out!

02Maharashtra Economic Development Council (MEDC) alongwith Govt. of Maharashtra organized a one day conference-‘The Manufacturing Magnet International Summit 2012’. The summit focused on various salient aspects of the recently launched‘New Manufacturing Policy (NMP)’ by the Government of India through various panel discussions involving eminent experts from government (centre and state), industry and MNCs.  Maharashtra Chief Minister Mr. Prithviraj Chavan was the chief guest of the event and inaugurated the one day summit, Mr. Arun Maira, Member Planning Commission, delivered the key note address, State Industry Minister, Mr. Sachin Ahir was the Guest of Honor and Dr. Kshatrapati Shivaji, Principal Secretary-Industries, GoM & CEO,MIDC was the special guest.

pdArtist Payal Khandwala showcased “PLAY” her debut collection at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai today, to rave reviews and much appreciation. Her colour block combinations, fluid silhouettes and immaculate cuts & finishes, made her show one of the most praised. Her simplicity and elegance coupled wth edgy drapes and flowing forms were the highlights of her debut collection, accessorised with long cloth bead necklaces and broad leather belts.  As a painter what excited Payal Khandwala the most was the freedom to manipulate pigment. Simply orchestrating colour can give a canvas a pulse and bring a painting to life. Her approach to clothing is much like my art. I treat the body as just another medium, a different type of canvas”, says Payal  Infused with a sense of play, the fabrics are layered in different textures and colour, within a framework that is constructed, draped and pleated, sometimes twisted and sometimes looped.

lfw“Retarded Velvet” by Theresa James and Roger Prince went down a new road by focusing more on individual pieces in their collection than the entire look. A bold move, from a bold label and it left the audience wanting more. The collection had a lot of western silhouettes such as printed leggings, jumpsuits, dresses, free flowing jackets with intriguing prints in a pop art style. Keeping their cuts fluid and simple; the designers played with prints such as rupee notes, temples, the iconic Amul dairy girl logo among other unique ever day symbols which gave their collection a fresh and fun appeal.

Creating dazzling glamour on the ramp Bollywood’s famous designer, Vikram Phadnis presented by INK Infrastructure unleashed a fusion line for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2012. There was a profusion of colour, texture, shape, and silhouettes as Vikram brought a vibrant Indo-West line of perfect resort bridal wear. Choosing a mélange of colours, the designer opted for neutral creams, glitzy gold and deep black with just a touch of prints to add drama.
